Let’s Pick My Car vs CarWale: Which Should You Use?

By Prasanna · Published · Updated

Use CarWale for breadth: new cars from a much wider range of brands, used-car listings, reviews, videos and dealer offers, with BikeWale for two-wheelers. Use Let’s Pick My Car once you have narrowed down to a mass-market model and need the right variant, each on-road charge with its tax rule, and a check of your dealer quote. None of our tools asks for a phone number.

Written by Prasanna, founder of Let’s Pick My Car, one of the two sites compared here. Our claims about CarWale come from CarWale’s own pages or published reports, linked below and checked in a browser on 19 October 2026. Prices on every site, including ours, change often, so recheck a figure before relying on it. We are not affiliated with CarWale, and CarWale did not review or pay for this article. Same ex-showroom price, different line items

Here is the Hyundai Creta E petrol manual in Bengaluru on both sites, checked on 19 October 2026.

Same ex-showroom price, different line items
LineCarWaleLet’s Pick My Car
Ex-showroom₹10,90,700₹10,90,700
Registration and road tax₹1,94,419₹2,06,815 road tax plus a ₹2,860 registration allowance
Insurance₹54,164₹43,635 (planning estimate)
Other charges₹11,407₹10,907 TCS plus ₹850 for FASTag and small charges
On-road total₹13,50,690₹13,55,767

The totals are only ₹5,077 apart, but the lines underneath differ by much more. CarWale’s registration line is ₹15,256 lower than our road tax and registration together, and its insurance line is ₹10,529 higher.

Our road tax follows the Karnataka rule set out on our methodology page: 17% of the invoice price at this price level, plus an 11% cess on that tax and a flat ₹1,000 cess. If the road-tax line on your quote differs, ask the dealer which rate and cess they applied; it should match the RTO receipt.

The same CarWale page also has a separate insurance estimate, powered by Policybazaar, that totals ₹20,631. The two figures will reflect different assumptions about cover. Insurance is the line where a like-for-like comparison saves the most money.

We could not find a date on CarWale’s Creta price page showing when its prices were last updated. Our car guides show the date each car’s prices were checked.

Your contact details

CarWale’s privacy policy says that when you express interest in a new car, the dealer, manufacturer or other party “will be provided with the user’s contact information”. It also says filling in a form on the site authorises CarWale and its partners to contact you regardless of your number’s DNC or DND status.

Lead forms are a common way to fund a free portal. On Let’s Pick My Car, no form asks for your phone number, and our privacy policy says we do not sell private quotation details or pass them to car dealers for marketing.

When CarWale is the better choice

  • Your shortlist includes a brand or model outside our 100 guides, such as a luxury car.
  • You are buying or selling a used car, or want a valuation.
  • You also need a bike or scooter; BikeWale is part of the same group.
  • You want video reviews and news.
  • You want a dealer to contact you with offers.

Where Let’s Pick My Car helps more

  • Choosing the variant. Every car guide has a ladder of trims showing what each step adds, what it costs and how we rate it. For example, the Maruti Brezza LXi petrol manual has no infotainment system or speakers. The VXi adds a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four speakers, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a rear defogger for ₹96,000 ex-showroom, or ₹1,13,299 on-road in Bengaluru. Our guide calls that step a must for most buyers.
  • Feature verdicts. Each feature is marked essential, recommended, nice to have or skip, with a rough retrofit cost where an accessory can do the same job.
  • Every state. The state price comparison ranks an exact variant’s estimated on-road price across all 36 states and union territories.
  • Quote checking. The quote review reads a pasted or uploaded dealer quote and flags charges to question and extras you can drop. The quote library holds 122 historical buyer-shared quotes for comparison.
  • Dated sources. Each car guide lists where its prices and equipment came from and when they were checked.

Using both

  1. Use CarWale to see every option in your budget, including brands we do not cover.
  2. Once the shortlist is down to mass-market cars, pick the variant in our car guides.
  3. Compare both sites’ line items and ask a dealer for an itemised quote.
  4. Check that quote with our quote review before you pay a booking amount.

Frequently asked questions

Why is CarWale’s on-road price different from the dealer’s? Every website total is an estimate. Dealers add insurance from their tie-up insurer, accessories, extended warranty and sometimes handling charges. Ask for an itemised quote and compare it line by line.

Does CarWale share my number with dealers? Its privacy policy says the dealer or manufacturer receives your contact details when you express interest in a new car.

Which is better for comparing variants? CarWale lists every variant with prices and specifications. For the 100 cars we cover, our guides go further on what each step up adds and costs, with a rating for each step.

Is Let’s Pick My Car affiliated with CarWale? No. We have no commercial relationship with CarWale or CarTrade Tech.
