Best CNG Cars in Bengaluru: On-Road Prices (2026)
By Prasanna · Published · Updated
CNG appeals to buyers who drive a lot and want lower fuel cost without moving to an electric car. This guide lists factory CNG cars from our catalogue with the cheapest CNG variant of each, its estimated Bengaluru on-road price, and the fuel cost per km on gas. Prices are our planning estimates, checked on 14 October 2026, and are not dealer quotes.
Two cautions first. All CNG entries in this table are manuals. Tata also offers CNG automatics, including the Tiago Creative CNG AMT at an estimated ₹10.39 lakh. And a CNG car costs more to buy than its petrol sibling, so the saving only counts if you drive enough. Our petrol vs CNG vs hybrid guide works through the break-even at different monthly distances.
The figures in this article stay fixed to the Bengaluru estimates checked on 14 October 2026, even if you change the header’s registration state. The linked variant pages restore Karnataka on-road pricing. These are selected options, not an exhaustive ranking or a road-test verdict.
How we calculated the running cost
Our editable CNG default is ₹97/kg, a planning input rather than a live pump price. The table divides it by each powertrain’s estimated mixed-use km/kg and shows gas-only cost. The full running-cost tool blends 90% CNG use with 10% petrol use at an assumed 14.5 km/l, then adds ₹1.05/km for service and wear. Those are separate assumptions, not guaranteed savings. Replace fuel prices and efficiency with inputs that fit your routes. See our methodology.

Best for the lowest price: Alto K10, Tiago, Wagon R, Celerio
Best for efficiency: Swift and Baleno
The Swift VXi CNG has the lowest gas cost per km in this table at about ₹3.59, from an estimated 27 km/kg, with the Baleno at 26 km/kg close behind. Their on-road prices are ₹9.15 lakh and ₹9.56 lakh. In our Swift example, the CNG premium over petrol was about ₹1.05 lakh.
Best for safety information: Punch and Nexon
The Punch Smart CNG is an estimated ₹8.30 lakh and is included in the catalogue’s scoped Bharat NCAP rating. The Nexon Smart CNG is ₹10.07 lakh, but the linked Nexon rating annexure in our catalogue lists petrol and diesel variants, so we do not apply it to CNG. Inspect the exact variant’s airbags, stability control and source scope. Missing applicable crash evidence is uncertainty, not proof that a car is unsafe.
Best for families: Ertiga and Brezza
The Ertiga VXi CNG is an estimated ₹13.60 lakh and seats seven. It sold 16,911 units in September 2026. Our Ertiga page notes that CNG is manual only and stops at the ZXi trim. The Brezza LXi CNG is ₹11.31 lakh for a compact SUV.
What to check before buying CNG
- Boot space: the cylinder takes up room in most hatchbacks and sedans. Open the boot and check it with your luggage.
- Fuel stations: confirm the CNG pumps along your routes in Bengaluru and on any regular highway trips.
- Warranty: ask whether the factory CNG kit has its own warranty terms.
- Cost: these estimates exclude dealer handling charges, accessories and extended warranty. Our quotation guide shows how to read a quote.
Frequently asked questions
Is CNG cheaper than petrol? Per km, yes, in our estimates. Gas costs roughly ₹3.6 to 4.9 a km in this table. The car costs more to buy, so use our fuel-cost calculator to see how long the premium takes to pay back at your distance.
Do CNG cars run only on CNG? These factory CNG variants are petrol/CNG bi-fuel cars. Our calculation assumes petrol use for 10% of distance; your actual split may differ.
Is there a CNG automatic? Mostly not, but Tata offers some. Every CNG variant in the table is a manual, but Tata lists CNG AMT variants such as the Tiago Creative CNG AMT.
Do the prices include a CNG kit? Yes. These are factory-fitted CNG variants, priced as listed on each variant page. Aftermarket kits are not covered.
