Best Websites to Research a New Car in India (2026)

Most buyers use three or four of these sites before they book. The trick is knowing which one is strong at each step.

Free car websites have to be paid for somehow, and the business model shapes what a page nudges you towards. None of these models is wrong, but it helps to know which one you are dealing with.

• Leads and partners. CarDekho’s privacy policy says services on its platform may be provided by dealers, manufacturers, lenders and insurers, and that you agree to be contacted even if your number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. CarWale’s privacy policy says that when you express interest in a new car, the dealer or manufacturer is given your contact details. ZigWheels is run by the same company as CarDekho.
• Selling cars. ACKO Drive lets you book a car and pay a booking amount online; a relationship manager then arranges the dealer, paperwork and delivery.
• Publishing. Autocar India is a magazine, TV show and YouTube channel as well as a website.
• Community. Team-BHP is a members’ forum and says it does not accept car advertisements.
• Us. Let’s Pick My Car shows no ads, has no lead forms and does not sell or book cars. Test-drive and booking buttons on our car guides go to the manufacturer’s website. Our privacy policy says we do not sell private quotation details or pass them to car dealers for marketing.

• Cars24 and Spinny. Marketplaces for used cars. Use them if a used car is on your list; we cover new cars only. Cars24 acquired Team-BHP in April 2025.
• 91wheels and DriveSpark. News, reviews and prices for cars and two-wheelers. Use them for a second opinion on launches.
• Autopunditz and Rushlane. Monthly model-wise sales reports. Our car sales page uses Autopunditz figures. Note that monthly sales figures count cars dispatched to dealers, not cars registered to buyers.
• Reddit r/CarsIndia. Real buyer quotes and dealer experiences. 116 of the 122 historical quotes in our quote library came from Reddit posts.
• YouTube reviewers. Good for seeing the cabin and features in use. Check the video date, because variants and prices change every few months.
• Manufacturer websites. The primary source for ex-showroom prices, brochures and booking. Each of our car guides lists the sources behind its prices and equipment.
• AI assistants. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity give quick summaries but can repeat old prices or discontinued variants. Ask for the source and date of any figure and check it on that page.

We looked up the same car on four sites on 19 October 2026: the Hyundai Creta E petrol manual in Bengaluru. All four start from the same ₹10,90,700 ex-showroom price.

The compulsory totals are within about ₹15,700 of each other. Most of the gap comes from two lines: insurance, where the estimates differ by up to ₹10,900, and the way Karnataka’s road tax and cess are shown. None of these totals is a dealer quote. Compare line items rather than totals, and ask the dealer for an itemised quote. Our methodology explains each line of our estimate.

1. Shortlist two or three cars by budget, body type and gearbox. Our car finder or any big portal will do.
2. Read or watch a road test of each, for example on Autocar India.
3. Search Team-BHP and r/CarsIndia for ownership and service experience.
4. Pick the variant in our car guides, where each step shows what it adds and what it costs.
5. Get an itemised dealer quote and run it through our quote review before you pay a booking amount.

Which website has the most accurate on-road price? None can be exact before you have a dealer quote, because insurance, accessories and handling charges vary by dealer and policy. Prefer a site that shows each line item and the date it was checked, then compare those lines with your quote.

Is CarDekho or CarWale better? They cover similar ground: most brands, used cars, reviews, news and dealer offers. Their breakups for the same car can differ, so check the line items. Our comparisons with CarDekho and CarWale go into detail.

Why do I get calls after checking a car price? On lead-based portals, offer and quote forms can pass your contact details to dealers and partners; CarDekho’s and CarWale’s privacy policies both say so. Read a form before you enter your phone number.
