Best SUVs Under ₹12 Lakh On-Road in Bengaluru (2026)
By Prasanna · Published · Updated
Compact SUVs are the most crowded part of the Indian market, and ₹12 lakh on-road in Bengaluru buys a lot of choice. This guide lists selected SUVs in our catalogue whose cheapest variant is well within that budget, using our own prices, scoped crash evidence and September 2026 sales. Prices are estimates checked on 14 October 2026, not dealer quotes. The cheapest variant is usually a base trim, so the list is a starting point for the variant you actually want.
The figures in this article stay fixed to the Bengaluru estimates checked on 14 October 2026, even if you change the header’s registration state. The linked variant pages restore Karnataka on-road pricing. These are selected options, not an exhaustive ranking or a road-test verdict.

The crash column applies to the listed entry variant. The Syros HTE is outside the catalogue’s named tested-variant annexure; selected higher Syros trims have rating evidence, which is not transferred here. Equal adult stars under different protocols are not equivalent protection. Missing evidence does not establish that a car is unsafe. Sales are September 2026 domestic wholesale dispatches, not registrations. Punch includes Punch EV and Nexon includes Nexon EV; see our September sales explainer.
Tata Punch: the top-ranked choice
The Punch ranks first on our ₹10 to 15 lakh list and also first under ₹10 lakh, with a safety score of 100. The Smart starts at an estimated ₹7.00 lakh. Its sales figure covers the Punch name including the EV. If you want a step up from the base trim, check what the next variant adds before you go further. Our variant guide helps with that.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon: larger, well-equipped
The Brezza and Nexon both score 100 for safety and sell in volume: 15,685 and 20,456 units in September. The Nexon starts at ₹8.95 lakh and the Brezza at ₹9.00 lakh. Both are bigger than the Punch. In our 10 to 15 lakh ranking, the Brezza is fourth and the Nexon fifth, but those ranks use the strongest qualifying variant under the published formula; they do not establish that a mid-range trim is best for you. Our Brezza vs Nexon comparison goes through the differences.
Nissan Magnite: the lowest price with a top safety score
The Magnite Visia at ₹6.87 lakh is the cheapest SUV here, and the model scores 100 for safety on its best variant in our ranking. Its sales are low (1,502 in September), so ask about service coverage near you. Treat the base trim as a starting point and check its equipment list.
Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kylaq and Kia Syros
The entry 3XO, Venue and Kylaq variants have applicable adult rating evidence in our catalogue. The Syros HTE entry variant is not named in its tested-variant annexure, so the rating of selected higher trims is not applied to it. The XUV 3XO starts at ₹9.41 lakh, the Venue at ₹9.65 lakh, the Kylaq at ₹9.11 lakh and the Syros at ₹10.08 lakh. They rank 7th, 9th, 13th and 17th on our 10 to 15 lakh list. Many of their better-equipped variants cost more than ₹12 lakh on-road, so check the exact variant.
Fronx, Exter, Sonet, Taisor and Kiger
These SUVs score 10 for safety in our ranking because they have no applicable crash-test rating. The Fronx and Exter sell in high numbers: 19,282 and 8,344 in September. They may still suit you, particularly if features and service network matter more. Compare their safety equipment variant by variant. The Kiger sold just 614 units in September, which is sales context only. Check workshop access and resale offers directly instead of inferring either from dispatch volume.
Petrol, CNG or turbo?
Several of these cars have a CNG option. The Punch Smart CNG is an estimated ₹8.30 lakh, the Exter HX 2 CNG ₹8.47 lakh, the Nexon Smart CNG ₹10.07 lakh, the Fronx Sigma CNG ₹9.58 lakh and the Brezza LXi CNG ₹11.31 lakh. See our CNG guide for gas cost per km.
What the on-road number leaves out
Our estimates include ex-showroom price, Karnataka road tax, registration, an insurance allowance, FASTag and TCS where applicable. They exclude dealer handling charges, accessories and extended warranty. Use the on-road price calculator to check other variants.
